Abstract Submission Guidelines

The FOCIS Scientific Program Committee welcomes you to submit original contributions for oral and poster presentations at the FOCIS Annual Meeting.

Abstract Title: Capitalize the first letter of all major words (exclude words like “the,” “at,” “and,” etc.), and do not add punctuation at the end.

Presentation Type: Select your preference for oral, poster, or either.

Author Information: The presenting author must submit the abstract and will receive confirmation and acceptance notice. You may add co-authors. For each co-author, provide first name, last name, email address, institution name, city, state, and country. Also, order co-authors as they should appear in the program.

Subject Areas: Select areas such as abstract topic, basis of research, and method of technology used.

Abstract Text: Limit your abstract to 350 words. Do not include graphic elements such as charts or pictures.

Disclosure Form: The presenting author must complete a disclosure form. This form requires you to accept the presentation statement, disclose financial relationships, and resolve conflicts of interest, in accordance with FOCIS policy.

Published Content: Do not submit abstracts that have been or will be published before the Annual Meeting presentation. Exception: If you add additional data or research to a previously published abstract, you may submit it.

Submission Fee: Please note, there is a $30 non-refundable submission fee per abstract. This fee is waived for presenting authors who are FOCIS members.

Abstract FAQ

Selection and Presentation

Each abstract is blinded and peer-reviewed by three members of the Abstract Review Committee. Based on these reviews, abstracts are selected for one of the following outcomes: oral presentation, poster presentation, or rejection.

Accepted oral presentations will be scheduled in the FOCIS 2026 program on Wednesday or Thursday afternoon. Each oral presentation is allotted a maximum of 15 minutes, including 10 minutes for the presentation followed by 5 minutes for questions and discussion.

Notification

If an abstract is accepted, the presenting author will receive an acceptance notification and is responsible for notifying all co-authors. Notifications of acceptance or rejection will be sent to presenting authors in early March 2026. Notifications of acceptance or rejection for late-breaking abstracts will be sent in early April 2026.

Registration Policy

Presenting authors of accepted abstracts are required to register for the FOCIS Annual Meeting by March 20, 2026. Presenting authors of accepted late-breaking abstracts must register by April 17, 2026.

Upon receipt of the FOCIS Annual Meeting registration fee, the abstract will be confirmed and scheduled within the program.

Abstracts accepted for presentation but not registered by the applicable deadline will be withdrawn and will not be included in the scientific program or the abstract supplement.

Abstract Publishing

Accepted abstracts are published in our Abstract Supplement, which is a PDF file available on the FOCIS website. This is published in early June and is available to the public.
