FOCIS Award Recipients: Recognizing Excellence in Immunology

Each year, FOCIS Award Recipients are honored for their outstanding contributions to immunology research and education. FOCIS presents a variety of prestigious awards to recognize exceptional achievements, primarily during the FOCIS Annual Meeting and the U.S. Advanced Course in Immunology.

Below is a list of the awards FOCIS offers, presented in alphabetical order. Unless otherwise noted, all awards are associated with the FOCIS Annual Meeting.

Congratulations to all of the FOCIS Award Recipients for their impactful work and dedication to advancing the field of clinical immunology.

British Society for Immunology (BSI) Poster Prize Award

Together with FOCIS, BSI established this prize to recognize the high quality of the recipient’s abstract submitted at the FOCIS Annual Meeting. The BSI Poster Prize is given to a fellow or student. Award recipients are eligible to receive financial support to cover expenses related to their meeting participation.

C. Garrison Fathman Fellows Fund (CGFFF) Award

The C. Garrison Fathman Fellows Fund enables trainees and fellows to attend the FOCIS Annual Meeting and educational courses and participate in exchange programs. FOCIS is known worldwide for its outstanding immunology education. Award recipients are eligible to receive financial support to cover some of their expenses related to their participation.

About the CGFFF

Clinical Immunology Award

Clinical Immunology provides this award to a colleague in training (student or fellow) who is the presenting author of a FOCIS Annual Meeting abstract. Award recipients are eligible to receive financial support to cover some of their expenses related to their participation.

2025 Recipient

FCE Award

The FCE Award recognizes trainees affiliated with an FCE who are FOCIS members and submit an abstract to the FOCIS Annual Meeting. FCE Directors nominate their trainees for this award, and the FCE Committee selects award recipients on a competitive basis. Award recipients attend the FCE Fusion event, receive complimentary registration, and are eligible to receive financial support to cover some of their expenses related to their participation.

About FCE Events

FCE Award at the FOCIS U.S. Advanced Course

This award recognizes trainees affiliated with an FCE who are FOCIS members and attend the FOCIS U.S. Advanced Course. FCE Directors nominate their trainees for this award, and the FCE Committee selects award recipients on a competitive basis. Award recipients are eligible to receive financial support to cover some of their expenses related to their participation.

About the Advanced Course

FCE Collaboration Travel Grant

The purpose of the travel grant is to facilitate communication and scientific exchange among centers in the FCE network by providing financial support for collaboration and/or research-sharing opportunities. The travel grant is open to FCEs and FOCIS members only. For 2023, FOCIS provided two grants of $1,500 each, supporting collaboration between two or more FCEs outside of the FOCIS annual meeting.

FOCIS Research Award

The FOCIS Research Award is presented to FOCIS members who are presenting authors of oral abstract presentations during the FOCIS Annual Meeting.
