Abstract Submission is Closed

Abstract submissions for the FOCIS 2025 Annual Meeting officially closed on January 22, 2025.

First, each abstract must undergo and pass a blinded, triple peer-review process in order to be accepted into the FOCIS 2025 program.

Then, the program committee will assign accepted abstracts to oral (podium) presentations or poster presentations. The submitting author will receive an abstract acceptance notification.

Furthermore, presenting authors of abstracts selected for oral or poster presentation must register for the FOCIS 2025 Annual Meeting. Upon payment of the FOCIS 2025 registration fee, your presentation will be confirmed and scheduled into the program.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

The FOCIS Scientific Program Committee welcomes you to submit original contributions for oral and poster presentations at the FOCIS 2025 Annual Meeting.

Abstract Title: Capitalize the first letter of all major words (exclude words like “the,” “at,” “and,” etc.), and do not add punctuation at the end. There is no word count limit

Presentation Type: Select your preference for oral, poster, or either.

Author Information: The presenting author must submit the abstract and will receive confirmation and acceptance notice. You may add co-authors. For each co-author, provide first name, last name, email address, institution name, city, state, and country. Also, order co-authors as they should appear in the program.

Subject Areas: Select areas such as abstract topic, basis of research, and FOCIS pillar.

Abstract Text: Limit your abstract to 250 words. Do not include graphic elements such as charts or pictures.

Disclosure Form: The presenting author must complete a disclosure form. This form requires you to accept the presentation statement, disclose financial relationships, and resolve conflicts of interest, in accordance with FOCIS policy.

Published Content: Do not submit abstracts that have been or will be published before the Annual Meeting presentation. Exception: If you add additional data or research to a previously published abstract, you may submit it.

Submission Fee: Please note, there is a $30 non-refundable submission fee per abstract. This fee is waived for presenting authors who are FOCIS members.

Abstract FAQ

Selection and Presentation

First, each abstract is blinded and peer-reviewed by three members of the Abstract Review Committee.

Next, accepted abstracts will be selected as either a short oral presentation, poster presentation, or rejected. Oral presentations are placed into the FOCIS 2025 program on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday afternoon. Oral presentations are allotted a maximum of 15 minutes, with 10 minutes for presentation and an additional 5 minutes allotted for questions and discussion.

Notification

If the abstract is accepted by the reviewers, the presenting author will receive an abstract acceptance notification. Notifications of acceptance or rejection will be sent the week of March 24, 2025 to the presenting author.

Registration Policy

Presenting authors of accepted abstracts must register for the FOCIS Annual Meeting by April 4, 2025.

Upon payment of the FOCIS Annual Meeting registration fee, the abstract will be confirmed and scheduled into the program.

However, abstracts accepted for presentation but not registered by the deadlines will be withdrawn and will not be included in the scientific program or abstract supplement.

Abstract Publishing

Accepted abstracts are published in our Abstract Supplement, which is a PDF file available on the FOCIS website. This is published in early June and is available to the public.
