FOCIS Member Types
Regular Member
Faculty Level Position: Assistant Professor ● Associate Professor ● Instructor ● Full Professor
Industry Member
Industry members are anyone not a post-doc or fellow, that work for a pharmaceutical/medical/non-academic institution.
Trainee Member
Trainee members are Fellows. Common titles/roles include, but are not limited to: Trainee, Fellow, Fellow Doctoral, Post-Graduate, Post-Doctoral and Resident. Trainee members require an advanced degree to qualify for this membership type.
Graduate/Medical Student Member
Graduate/Medical Student members must be a current medical or graduate student and must provide the name of their training program and the name of their training program advisor during the application process to qualify for this member type. Undergraduate students pursuing an honors thesis in immunology are also encouraged to apply to this member category.
Group Member
(1) Faculty Level Position, (4) Trainee Level ● See “Regular” and “Trainee”
Emeritus Member
Retired ● Individuals who do not have an active lab

Membership Terms
If you join FOCIS between January 1 and September 30, you will become a member for the current year, with your membership expiring on December 31. Before the following January, you will be asked to renew your membership for the following year.
If you join FOCIS between October 1 and December 31, 2024, your membership will expire at the end of the following year, December 31, 2025.
